Psychotherapy
I began my professional life as a dentist, and enjoyed a successful career in dental practice and teaching. Throughout my dental training and early career, I worked extensively with special challenges, particularly people with medical and emotional issues. After nearly a decade of practice, I experienced a strong desire to return to graduate school and obtain a doctorate in clinical psychology. In graduate school at Rutgers University, I was able to integrate my medical background with the study of health psychology, and then to incorporate my decades-long experience with meditation and mind-body health into my growing practice. I also trained extensively in medical hypnotherapy, as well as in advanced stress management, including studies in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
For five years I developed a collaborative practice of psychology within a large multi-specialty group medical practice. There I witnessed the tremendous benefits that patients gain when their clinicians work closely together. I bring this experience, as well as a compassionate precision and attention to detail from my medical background to my current clinical practice, where I engage collaboratively with my clients to help them with many of the most prevalent mental health concerns.
I am passionate about my work as a licensed clinical psychologist,
although my career history is an unconventional one.
Coaching
In addition, after over a decade of supplemental training and experience with master leadership coaches, I am also a senior executive coach and organizational consultant with Vector Group, a dynamic international leadership consulting firm. I deeply enjoy the rich challenges and satisfaction of working with executives in healthcare and other sectors to help them become more strategic, visionary and effective leaders.
Every day that I practice psychotherapy and executive coaching, I witness people growing and changing in a positive direction.
I do not enter the client session with a model of health that I impose on the individual. Rather, I see my role as a skilled clarifier and guide, helping each person to better understand their current situation, so that they may more easily and consciously move away the obstacles to their goals. My clients improve and grow because we work together as a well-functioning team. I have deep respect for my clients’ own ability to discover their unique solutions to problems, catalyzed by support from me and often by other professionals on the team. I endeavor to meet each person on his or her own terms, developing a completely customized treatment or coaching approach for each client’s specific needs. This highly individualized approach to treatment has proven, over my decades of practice, to be very effective. Being a part of my clients’ healing, growth and strengthened leadership is a cherished privilege.

Payment
I believe it is important that the client and therapist make decisions together about what, when, and how much therapy they feel is appropriate. I am not a participant with any insurance panels, so that decisions about treatment can be made privately between my client and myself.
That said, many insurance companies offer out-of-network coverage for individual, couples or family psychotherapy.
I am happy to provide you with a receipt for payment that you may submit for reimbursement.
I ask to be paid at the time of treatment, preferably via Venmo or Zelle.
Cancelled or missed appointments
I ask that you provide me at least 24 hours’ notice when you need to cancel or change an appointment. Appointments that are missed without enough notice will be billed at the full fee.
Of course, exceptions are made for illness and other extenuating circumstances.
